    Richard has been at the CMA since its creation in 2014 having joined one of its precursor agencies, the OFT. Richard is by background a criminal barrister. After ten years in the criminal courts defending and prosecuting the full range of criminal offences, he joined the Government Legal Service in 2008. Prior to the OFT he worked at the Serious Organised Crime Agency and in the criminal team at the Attorney General’s Office. At the OFT and CMA he has been involved in several criminal and civil cartel investigations, involving allegations of price fixing, market sharing and bid-rigging.

    Rob Saunders
    Principal Intelligence Analyst, Investigators and Intelligence @ Competition and Markets Authority

    Rob works within the Specialist Intelligence Unit of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Rob has been at the CMA since 2015 and has worked in both the investigation and intelligence teams. He acted as Lead Investigator on a number of civil cartel cases before moving to the intelligence team to manage projects focussed on spreading awareness of competition law and proactively identifying anti-competitive behaviour.
